Fredrik Kayser

Model 965 Ottomans, 1964

Model 965 Ottomans, 1964

A pair of Model 965 ottomans designed by Fredrik Kayser for Vatne Lenestolfabrik in Norway. The simple frames are made from solid rosewood and the seats have been reupholstered in sheepskin. This ottoman was originally designed to pair with the Model 965 wing chair.

Kayser is arguably the best Norwegian furniture designer from the post-war period. He designed a number of distinctive, modernist chairs including the Krysset for Rastad & Relling and the Model 711 for Vatne. Shortly after the Model 965 was released Kayser died at the age of just 44.
