Niels Moller
The Model 62 armchair, designed in 1962 by Niels O. Møller and produced by his own company J.L. Møller Mobelfabrik is a true Danish design icon. Møller opened his factory in 1944 in Højbjerg south of Aarhus. Early in his career he collaborated with designer Arne Hovmand Olsen, who had studied in Aarhus around the same time. But Møller's own design work reached it's apex in the late 1950s with a run of exceptional dining and armchair sets . The Model 62 alongside it's corresponding dining chair - Model 78 - are widely considered the highpoint of his career both in the aesthetic and commercial sense.
Early rosewood editions are rarely seen and highly sought-after in today's market. This example has been reupholstered in new woven leather braid, a technique used briefly by J.L. Møller in the late 1960s that we have carefully replicated to exacting standards in our own workshop.
