Nils & Eva Koppel

 1914 - 2009, 1916 - 2006

Eva and Nils Koppel were a pioneering Danish architect duo, revered for their influential contributions to 20th century Scandinavian design. The couple met as students and married in 1936. They worked for renowned architect Alvar Aalto in Finland before founding their own practice in Denmark.

The Koppels are best known for modernist landmarks like the Langelinie Pavilion and the Hans Christian Ørsted Institute, marked by clean lines and Brutalist influences. They received numerous honours, including the Eckersberg Medal and the Wood and Natural Stone Prizes.

Their furniture designs, such as the iconic Model 781 chair, reflect the organic forms and vibrant materials characteristic of Scandinavian modernism.
