Ib Kofod-Larsen
Designed in 1956 by Ib Kofod-Larsen, the Elizabeth Chair is one of the finest works of Danish design produced in the 20th century. It made an instant impact when first presented at the Cabinetmaker's Guild Exihibiton in Copenhagen on the stand of producers Christensen & Larsen. This exceptionally rare example was made in figured rosewood and retains its beuaitfully patinated leather seat.
The chair gained the name ‘Elizabeth’ after Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain acquired a set from a Danish furniture fair during a state visit to Denmark in 1958.
