Five Iconic Chairs by Hans J. Wegner.
Few names in design history hold as much significance as Hans J. Wegner. Playing a starring role in the Danish Modern movement, Wegner created over 500 pieces during his storied career, seamlessly blending organic minimalism with everyday functionality.
Considered to be the 'master of the chair', his designs are celebrated for their elegance, comfort, and expert craftsmanship. His work continues to influence generations of designers and remains highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
One of his most enduring designs is the Papa Bear Chair (also known as the Valet Chair), introduced in 1953. Defined by its distinctive armrests, it is a prime example of Wegner’s ability to conceive of both sculptural and functional designs. Other pieces such as the Wishbone Chair and the Round Chair, are still highly sought after for their elegant simplicity and exceptional craftsmanship.

Simply known as 'The Chair' when it debuted in 1949, this design became internationally famous and was even used in the televised 1960 U.S. presidential debates between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon. The JH-501 remains Wegner's most well-known design from an illustrious career.
