Townhouse in Gramercy

A refined family home balancing heritage and contemporary living

Designed by the New York-based studio Ashe Leandro, the Gramercy Townhouse is a refined family residence that seamlessly balances historic character with contemporary living. Renowned for creating interiors that feel both elevated and effortlessly inviting, the studio has transformed this Manhattan townhouse into a deeply personal and enduring home.

Nestled in the distinguished neighbourhood of Gramercy Park, the property thoughtfully combines original architectural details with a carefully curated selection of vintage and contemporary furnishings. Rather than competing with the home's heritage, each intervention respectfully enhances its existing character, creating a sophisticated dialogue between past and present.

The curated furniture includes pieces such as the iconic 54 Chair, a contemporary update of an obscure Danish design from the Midtjylland region in the early 1950s. Effortlessly balancing traditional and modern influences, its clean and sculptural form allows it to fit naturally into a wide range of interiors. In this project, the chair is upholstered in genuine Australian sheepskin, adding a soft and tactile quality.
