It was produced by Olof Perssons Fatoljindustri (O.P.E.) in Jonkoping, Sweden as part of the same series that included his renowned Salen and Kandidaten lounge chairs. This exquisite rosewood example comes with its original cognac brown leather cushions. The Samso is Kofod-Larsen's most refined work in this lounge chair category that he spent much of his career exploring. It borrows influence from his contemporaries Finn Juhl and Ole Wanscher through its use of classical and biomorphic forms.

Kofod-Larsen studied architecture at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen, graduating in the late 1940s. He started drawing furniture for cabinetmakers Ludvig Pontoppidan and Christensen & Larsen who went on to produce most of his important works including the Elizabeth Chair in 1956. Kofod-Larsen's famed work ethic led to many opportunities working for a range of producers across northern Europe, the USA and England throughout his career. some of his finest work was drawn for Olof Persson starting in 1956. Persson had looked to revitalise his factory's output by collaborating with Danish architects including Kofod-Larsen and the husband and wife duo Tove and Edvard Kindt-Larsen.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0662/3497/4438/files/Ib-Kofod-Larsen-Samso-Rosewood-Original-Cognac-Leather-11-1600.jpg?v=1778501937
