His early career was spent collaborating with leading cabinetmaker Henrik Worts. One of his earliest designs was this elegant square stool with curved rails, inspired by the classic ancient Egyptian furniture type. Bernt managed to introduce Chinese influence also with his carefully sculpted horseshoe feet. This stool was designed for the \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e \u003cem\u003eKunsthåndværkets Prisopgave \u003c\/em\u003ecompetition in 1957 then presented at the Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition a year later.
